Give, Golf and Honor Our Veterans - Hosted by Families of WWII Veterans
November 5, 2018

Families of World War II Veterans will hold its annual golf tournament and fundraiser at the The Tribute Golf Club in The Colony, TX on Thursday, November 8. This year's tournament is presented by MetLife, where special guests and veterans will be in attendance to give, golf and honor our World War II veterans.

The tournament will start in the morning and will run throughout the day. The golfers and the sponsors of the tournament will be helping contribute to the Families of World War II Veterans scholarship fund. This fund has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships to students pursuing an undergraduate degree at the college of their choice. To receive the scholarship, applicants must detail in writing what the lessons, events and historical significance of World War II mean to them. Academic standing and financial need are also considered. After the tournament, there will be a silent auction and raffle, where proceeds go toward to the scholarship fund. Prizes this year will include items from companies such as Omega, Bose®, TUMI and more. The grand prize will be a trip for two to Normandy in 2019 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

The Families of World War II Veterans nonprofit organization was founded and is chaired by Barbara Fasola, CEO of Frisco-based Careington International Corporation. Fasola was inspired to create Families of World War II Veterans in honor of her father, a World War II veteran who served in the South Pacific. "This tournament is now a tradition," said Fasola. "It is a great time for everyone to come together and remember, honor and meet the brave men and women who served during one of the most defining points in history."

Careington will continue its tradition of supporting the organization and will be hosting the annual fundraiser. Other major sponsors this year are MetLife, Aetna, HealthMarkets, Axia Strategies and more. A complete list of sponsors can be found on the Families of World War II Veterans website.
